What gets collected on this site, why it is held, and the choices available over it at any point.
MyersMedicare does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
Information reaches this site in two ways. The first is information submitted directly, such as a name, an email address, a phone number and the wording of a question sent through the contact form or the account form. The second is technical information gathered automatically when a page loads, such as browser type, device type, approximate region and which pages were opened.
Submitted information is used to answer the question that was asked, to maintain an account where one has been created, and to keep the site working the way it is meant to. Technical information is used to understand which pages get read and where the wording needs improving.
Where a phone number is submitted along with consent, that number may be used for service messages about a submitted request and, separately, for promotional messages about Medicare plan options. Those two consents are given separately and either can be withdrawn without affecting the other. Replying STOP to any message ends further messages of that type, and replying HELP requests support. Message frequency varies, and standard message and data rates may apply.
Small files may be stored by the browser to keep a session working and to measure how pages are used in aggregate. These files do not read anything else stored on the device. Browser settings can block or clear them at any time, though some parts of an account session may stop working smoothly once they are blocked.
Certain providers handle work on behalf of this site, such as hosting, email delivery and message delivery. Those providers receive only what they need to complete that work and are not permitted to use it for anything else. Information may also be disclosed where the law requires it, where a legal claim needs defending, or where a transfer of the site itself takes place.
Information is kept only as long as it serves the purpose it was submitted for, or as long as a legal or record keeping obligation requires. Contact form submissions are held while the exchange remains useful and then removed. Account details are held while the account remains open and are removed once the account is closed.
Reasonable technical and organisational measures are in place to protect submitted information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Transmission over the internet can never be guaranteed as completely secure, so information is submitted with that understood, and passwords should not be shared with anyone.
A request can be made at any time to see what information is held, to correct something inaccurate, or to have information deleted. Marketing messages can be stopped without closing an account, and an account can be closed without affecting the right to keep reading the site.
This site is written for adults working through Medicare coverage and is not directed at children. Accounts are intended for people aged eighteen or older. Where information belonging to a child is found to have been submitted, it is removed once identified.
Some pages link to outside resources so a rule can be read at its source. Those sites run under their own privacy practices, which are not controlled here. Reading the policy on any outside site before submitting anything to it is worth the moment it takes.
This policy is revised when practices change or when a rule requires it. The revised version replaces the previous one on the date shown at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a revision means the revised policy applies.
Questions about this policy, or a request connected with information held, can be sent using the details below.
